Thanks for writing this article! It is so true. This type of thing happens to me all the time, and I find it really frustrating because I didn’t ask for their advice.

Totally understand. And I think most people are offering advice to try to help, honestly, I do…I think even just saying, “do you want to hear how I deal with that? Maybe it will work for you, maybe not…” sets up a WHOLE different dynamic. Instead of just assuming someone wants to hear it, it’s nice to ask. And they may say yes under obligation, but at least you’ve offered them a choice!

before you read my comment please know that I wrote it with love. Not sure if I fully agree because I love to hear other ppl`s experiences in life. Sometimes I don`t have the answers to my problems and getting ideas from others gets me out of my slump that I am in and gives me hope in finding a solution to my problem.Also it is nice to know that others have gone through the same as me and that I am not alone. I do realize from your post that not everyone thinks the same as me though so I will practice listening more and try out not giving advice to ppl without being asked, but please know this that I am one person who likes to give advice, not because I am judging ppl but because I like to help ppl.
